My research focuses on two related areas. The first is the effects of childhood maltreatment and parent-child interaction quality on emotional and cognitive empathy among young children. The second is to examine the biological basis for the link between childhood maltreatment and different types of empathy, as represented by the expression levels of oxytocin and cortisol in the study groups.
